Whakatane Quota had a very special morning with Justise MacAulley before Christmas.  President Wendy presented Justise with a basket of wrapped presents and Quota Care Bear for Justise and his twin sister and older brother. (donated by Quota member Jan, Whitcoulls - thanks Jan, Justise was all smiles as he opened his books and read off the titles!)

Justise was very careful unwrapping his gifts until President Wendy showed him how to 'rip it off'!!  She also played with Justise's monster 'goop' showing him how to pull, squeeze, and squish the goop between his fingers!!  The goop was full of plastic spiders and a huge cockroach - a real 'boy toy'!!  I hate to think what Wendy's future grandees will receive for Christmas pressies as she enjoyed every 'squish'!!

Justise was all smiles when he opened the Christmas card with a cheque from Quota for "Twelve hundred dollars' exclaimed Justise as he waved the cheque at his Dad!  He is precious!  The cheque was presented to the family to help cover travelling costs to Starship Hospital (350 kms each way).

Justise, who is undergoing treatment for Leukemia,  will be home for Christmas with his family this year.  His low blood count means he will not receive chemo next week or travel up to Starship Hospital in Auckalnd! His chemo treatments will begin once his blood count is higher. Justise was really pleased he will be home with his family for Christmas and to have a break from hospitals. However, he does visit Whakatane Hospital for his regular blood tests, etc.

Spending time with Justise makes one stop and thank God for small blessings and good health!
