Quota International of Whakatane has welcomed three new members, Karen Sharp joined Quota in November; Prue Gray and Jane Dell were pinned at Quota's Annual Christmas Tea Party following their December business meeting held at Karla Hammond's home.
Quota has had a very successful year with fundraising, The Simply Fashion Event raised $6300 for the HOSPICE Foundation; the Christmas Cake raffle and a Christmas 'prezzie' auction held at the November dinner meeting has raised over $1000 for young Justise of Matata. The monster garage sale held this spring brought in another $1000 which has gone to various charity organisations such as Riding for the Disabled, Alzheimer's Assoc., and Growing through Grief to name a few.
Quota was involved in many community awareness projects this year as well, LOUD Shirt Day raised awareness and funds for the Hearing House in Auckland which supports deaf children throughout the north island including children from the Eastern Bay. The 'Pricilla' bus and her entourage helped raise awareness for Disabilities Awareness Week sponsored by DRCT. The members along with a very supportive Mayor had a lot of fun preparing for the big race! Quota was also involved in Daffodil Day and made personal emergency packs for Jezreel, Mountain View Rest Home, Victim Support and A & E. Quota members along with The Pohutukawa Lions were invited guests to a joint club meeting hosted by the Sunshine Lions held at the Ohope Charter Club in October. It was a lovely evening of sharing ideas and getting to know the members of the other clubs.
