Our District Project for 2009/2010 was the ‘Beautiful Daughters’ programme run by the Mary MacKillop house in Glendene.  This is an alternative education facility for girls who for various reasons do not fit in to the mainstream education system.  There are 10 girls there at present and the smaller classes mean they can get one on one attention from their teachers. One of the students, Stevie Wood, says she loves going to school now and hasn’t missed a day since going there.   All girls take the core subjects but are also able to do other subjects that interest them.  Sewing machines have recently been purchased and a sewing teacher is ready to teach them to sew.

Quota and Beautiful Daughters

Quota’s donation was a great surprise to Manager Papi Moka and the amount of $2,650 will go towards materials and other sewing requirements. We are all looking forward to seeing the finished results.  Maybe another Fashion Parade is on the way!!
